followed by Ministries and Mission Interpreters training October 27-28, 2012

Theme: Learning from Global Partners
Often people-to-people pilgrimage participants or returning missionaries say: “I received so much more from our Global Partners than I was able to give.” During ¡Missionworks! (Thursday dinner until Saturday noon), we will take the time to share specifically through keynote addresses, panel discussions, missionary presentations, break-out groups, worship and a global mission fair what we are learning from Global Partners and how we are translating those learnings into action in our local settings. We will reflect on:
· what we are learning about doing God’s mission from our International Partners and how we are applying those learning to become a more missional focused church in our own context.
· what our brothers and sisters around the world are teaching us about relationships and living in community and how we are attempting to become a more community oriented people in our ways of being church in our setting.
The Ministries and Mission Interpreters (MMI) network of Global Ministries has grown to almost 1300 Disciples and UCC who have participated in an MMI training. During the MMI training portion of this week-end (Saturday noon to Sunday noon) we will offer different training segments on specific areas of focus for trainees to re-charge their batteries, learn some new skills and share their passion in a specific ministry area. Each participant will develop an action plan that they will carry out in their ministry setting:
1. Basic MMI training – for first-timers who want the initial training.
2. Region/Conference MMI Coordinators – for MMIs designated to nurture the MMI network and coordinate MMI activities in a specific region/conference.
3. People-to-People Pilgrimages – for MMIs who have a passion for international group mission trips.
4. Global Church Partnerships – for MMIs who have a passion for nurturing reciprocal relationships with global partners and their conference/region.
5. Global Advocacy & Justice – for MMIs who have a passion for specific global advocacy issues.
Partial and full scholarships are available for participants who attend both the ¡Missionworks! and MMI training and who have a recommendation from their region/conference staff. A registration form will be available soon. For more information, contact Bob Shebeck bshebeck@dom.disciples.org or 317-713-2571.
