God's October Surprise
Written by Tod & Ana Gobledale Churches of Christ Theological College here in Mulgrave, Australia, will be finding ways to celebrate "God's October Surprise" within our community this October, and to use it as a time to call students and faculty to work for peace. We will highlight (1) the Building Bridges program here in Melbourne, directed by Dr. Tim McCowan, which unites teenagers (through their religious-affiliated schools) of Jewish, Muslim and Christian heritages, and (2) the inter-faith work of both Merryl Blair, Professor of the Hebrew Bible, and Merrill Kitchen, Principal and Professor of New Testament. They are accompanied by their 16-year old son, Mandla, who attends Rowville Secondary College, the local high school. Their 19-year old daughter, Thandiwe, continues her university studies at Pomona College, in Claremont, California. |
