The Kalauman Development Center in Dumaguete City in the Philippines serves orphaned and abandoned children, as well as children living with adults who are under- or unemployed. These children are "the poorest of the poor.”

This Center is a Global Ministries Child Sponsorship site. The money received by Global Ministries from child sponsors is used for school uniforms, supplies, and fees, and for medical assistance for the sponsored child. It also enables the children to participate in church school classes, Vacation Bible Schools and camps, to go on field trips, and to attend other cultural activities.

Begun in 1981, the Center has helped children who are now college graduates and are in a position to help other children themselves.

The Kalauman Development Center also provides opportunities for the children's families to participate in community activities that will help them become self-reliant and self-sufficient. Both the children and their families are grateful to Kalauman, a name which means "from where you can draw hope."

Additional funds over and above individual child sponsorships are needed in order to support more children and to reinforce the Center’s services activities.
