Dear Friend of Global Ministries:

We ask for your help in an important matter – one that takes on even greater importance in these times of economic difficulty in our country and around the world.  As you evaluate your personal financial situation, please see if there is a way that you might make a planned gift to benefit Global Ministries.  A planned gift can take a variety of forms.  The simplest gift types are listed here, but if you have a more complex situation please call us directly and we can talk.

A Will.  Sadly, a high percentage of church members die without a will, or with one that is outdated.  We encourage you to keep your will current and, after making necessary provisions for family, to remember the work of Global Ministries.  Some of you have notified us that either Wider Church Ministries (UCC) or the Division of Overseas Ministries (DOC) is in your will and we are very grateful.  If you have made such a provision but have not notified us, please do.  If you are putting together your will or wish to adapt your estate plans to include DOM or WCM, we will be honored to discuss this with you and we can provide sample language.

Gift Annuity.  Depending on one’s age, a gift annuity can outperform a certificate of deposit in providing income for life for a person or couple, and then it becomes a gift to the church.  We will be happy to talk about such options for you in order to provide such a gift to Global Ministries.

Other options.  There are several other options for planned gifts that may make sense for you, such as a charitable remainder trust, the establishment of an endowment fund or a donor-directed fund.  Please let us know how we may be of assistance to you!

We hope this letter will enable us to open a conversation with you regarding your estate plans and the possibility of making a planned gift to benefit Global Ministries.  Income from planned gifts is one of the most important sources of funding for Global Ministries.  They enable WCM and DOM to contribute to God’s mission to make a difference in the lives of people around the world on behalf of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.

If you would like more information or would like to discuss planned giving options, please contact us. Our addresses, phone numbers and email addresses are included below. Please include which denomination you are a part of and the name of your congregation if applicable. If you have already included Global Ministries in your estate plans, we would apreciate hearing from you as well.

We look forward to hearing from you!
