spacer Krisan Refugee Camp Crisis, Ghana

December 15, 2005

Large scale police brutality has occurred at the Krisan Refugee Camp in Ghana, both during and in retaliation to the walk-out organized by about 800 refugees and asylum seekers on November 7th and 8th.

The aftermath has left Krisan’s 1700 refugees from 11 countries living in concentration camp-like conditions, with armed police roaming the camp hunting for organizers. Health, ration and sanitation services, including water purification, have been suspended.
