The East Asia and Pacific Office announces an ecumenical study trip to Okinawa, Japan and Korea from January 8-19, 2007 to look at the issues of U.S. military presence in East Asia. The trip is open to any church member, leader or seminary student who is interested, although we are limited to 10 people. Deadline to apply is November 6, 2006. Cost will be between $2500 and limited scholarships are available.Come join us to learn more about the U.S. military presence in East Asia. Meet our church partners in Japan and Korea, visit military sites, and learn about issues of militarization and its impact on local communities. Engage in dialogue with our Christian brothers and sisters about the geo-political realities of East Asia.

Tentative Schedule
January 8 Travel from Los Angeles to Okinawa
- January 9-13 Meet with church leaders, visit communities around U.S. military bases, dialogue with local residents
- January 14 Travel from Okinawa to Seoul, South Korea
January 15-17 Visit PROK Peace Community Movement Center, My Sister’s Place, meet with NGOs, visit military bases and communities
January 18 Cultural exposure in Seoul
- January 19 Travel from Seoul to Los Angeles
Trip is open to church leaders and members. Seminary students are also encouraged to participate. Trip is limited to 10 participants.
Approximate cost: $2500 (*limited partial scholarships available)
