GM Missionary, Bruce Van Voorhis, Shares the Story of Crispin Beltran in the Philippines
"A 75-year-old man fatally fell from a ladder while repairing a leaky roof in the Philippines on May 20 before an approaching typhoon. Normally this tragedy only affects the man's family and friends; but when the man is Congressman Crispin Beltran, the repercussions have rippled throughout the toiling masses that he represented in the House of Representatives and has touched the lives of Filipino migrant workers and others who respect him around the world…" To read Bruce's tribute to this man of justice, click here: Crispin Beltran

Massachusetts Conference Delegation Shares about their Visit to the Shalom Center in Chile
"My name is Angela Knapton.  I am a member of Hadwen Park Congregational, UCC in Worcester, MA (www.hadwenparkchurch.org). I am currently the chairperson of the Massachusetts Conference's Commission for Mission & Justice and in February of this year I was privileged to be a part of a People-to-People pilgrimage to Centro Shalom, a retreat center of the Pentecostal Church of Chile, which is one of our Global Ministries partners (and where Elena Huegel and John Wallace serve as GM Missionaries.)  I had an amazing experience as did the rest of our delegation from Massachusetts.  I am so thankful for the opportunity…" To read the rest of Angela's story, click here: Angela Knapton To read Maggie Schmidt's story, click here: Maggie Schmidt

GM Missionaries in South Africa, Jon and Dawn Barnes, Share about the Chicken Project
"The chicken house at Rhabule location was completed in late April 2008.  There were many delays in this process, including weather and issues with the builder, but at last the structure is complete.  The Department of Labor has agreed to assist with the training and mentoring of workers, and negotiations are underway by the church to facilitate this process happening as soon as possible.  They are expecting to begin training in the next month.  Reverend Makuzeni has been keeping the Barnes informed on the process and Jon will be going to this location once the training has started to take more pictures…" To read the complete report and view some photos, click here:Chicken Project

Disaster Alert - 2008 Mid West Tornadoes and Floods
Recent tornadoes and flooding in the Mid West has severely impacted the region. Flooding has reached record levels causing damages to homes, buildings, dams, and agricultural fields. Twenty one counties in Indiana, 43 counties in Iowa and 30 counties in Wisconsin were declared disaster areas by the governors in those states. In Michigan, hundreds of thousands of people remained without power because of the storms, including two possible tornadoes that snapped power poles across the state.  A federal disaster proclamation has been issued in Indiana, others will likely follow.  Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri are also suffering under the impact of recent tornadoes and floods. To read more and find out ways you can help, visit:
