Join GM in Celebration of Mr. Paul Turner
Global Ministries celebrates Mr. Paul Turner's recent appointment as the president of Save Africa's Children.  Mr. Turner has been heard to say "I believe Save Africa's Children is poised to become the preeminent African-American faith-based organization in a movement, to bring hope and a future to the most vulnerable children on the continent of Africa".  http://www.saveafricaschildren.org Turner has a long history with advocacy and development in Africa with the Global Ministries family.  The appointment of Mr. Turner is part of a larger effort to broaden the leadership role of African-American led organizations in United States policy, nationally and internationally, particularly toward Africa.  Blessings on your journey! Gloria Vicente Speaks at Illinois Maya Ministry Lunch
Rev. Swartz reports on his blog the following: "At the Illinois Conference Meeting at Springfield, Illinois, Gloria Vicente was the speaker at the Illinois Maya Ministries luncheon that took place on Saturday, June 6, in the Convention Center. Gloria, along with her husband, Santos, and their baby, Nicolas, were present with about twenty conference members, and we all had lunch together. Gloria, as the speaker, shared some of her own journey with us. There is something remarkably engaging when persons give witness to their own experience. There is power when we construct the narrative of our life…" To read the rest of the blog, click here: http://revswartz.blogspot.com/2009/06/illinois-maya-ministry-luncheon.html

GM Missionaries to Poland Share the Challenge of Communicating Faith
In a recent Mission letter, Doug and Liz Searles share about one of the projects of our partners in Poland, The Evangelical Reformed Church: "Sometimes it's easier to talk about what we don't believe than about what we do…Learning to make positive statements about Reformed beliefs is a continuing journey. One milestone is work on a new translation of foundational texts of the church. In English, the compendium will be called: "What Do We Believe?" – in Polish: "W Co Wierzymy?" Rev. Semko Koroza of the Lodz congregation is working with youth to produce translations of texts – many of them from the 16th century and from other languages…."
