Statement on Situation of Christians in Iraq
"The "Arab Group for Muslim – Christian Dialogue" has been following with great pain and concern the distress of the Christians of Iraq, especially in Mosul where attacks have displaced more than a thousand Christian families, and denounces those practices, which contradict with the simplest human values and rights, and with freedom of belief... Congo Week Reports
Submitted by Tracy Siegman at Lexington Theological Seminary: "On Tuesday, October 7th… LTS hosted a Congo Week service. Dr. Rick Lowery preached about his experiences in the Congo this past summer and provided a history of the conflict…The choir processed in to an African spiritual with drums and maracas and all the music in the service was African.  Our foreign exchange student served at the table rendering his prayer in his native Kenyan tongue.  I'm sure we weren't able to capture the Congolese worship style - but we sure gave it our best to include elements that would give the community something different than what we're used to in the LTS chapel." Please submit your reports to LaMarco Cable lcable@dom.disciples.org and Derek Duncan duncand@ucc.org
