Over 40 Disciples and UCC Attend Second Haiti/Conaspeh Consultation
On March 30 and 31 a second Haiti Consultation was held in Indianapolis, IN. Patrick Villier, the president of Conaspeh, which brings together over 6,000 grass-roots congregations in Haiti, was present to share Conaspeh's vision for the future and to dialogue with participants on the challenges and opportunities of walking together as one church to carry out that vision. At this moment, Conaspeh's top priority is the purchase of a large piece of property adjacent to the current Conaspeh headquarters which would become a "university" campus complex with a guesthouse facility to welcome groups. 2009-2010 Public Policy Briefing Book Available
Due to popular demand, Justice and Witness Ministries (JWM), partnering with Wider Church Ministries (WCM) and Global Ministries (GM), revives a highly respected ecumenical resource, the 2009-2010 Public Policy Briefing Book. JWM and WCM/GM are pleased to share this helpful tool in hopes that it will be a useful instrument for individuals or congregations to engage in the justice and peace movement. Inside the briefing book you will find tips for congregational advocacy, in-depth coverage of the U.S. financial crisis and the Iraq War, and issue-by-issue coverage of domestic and international concerns likely to be acted on during this two-year session of Congress. CEDECOL Urges Action on Behalf of Disappeared Colombian Pastor
GM missionary to Colombia, Michael Joseph reports: I first heard of Idia and her missing husband, Pastor William Reyes – of the Light and Truth Interamerican Church of Maicao, La Guajira, on the morning of September 27th a little more than 24 hours after the pastor disappeared on a rural Colombian highway. I was roused by an early morning phone call from the National Coordinator of the Peace Commission of the Evangelical Council of Colombia (CEDECOL), with whom I work; "A pastor has been disappeared. We need to tell the international family of faith; we need them to take action," he told me.

DisciplesWorld Highlights GM Push for "Conflict-free" Materials in DRC
Global Ministries signed a letter last month, asking electronics companies like Apple, Dell, and Samsung to "play a significant part in combating the trade in conflict minerals in eastern Congo by publicly disclosing [their] supply chains for components containing tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold, and by working with our organizations and others in the industry to develop a robust, international mechanism to verify the origin of these minerals."
The initiative was spearheaded by
Enough Project, a non-profit that works to prevent genocide and crimes against humanity in Africa. Dozens of American and international faith-based, grass-roots organizations have joined the effort. To read the entire article, click here:

Hungarian churches warn of social collapse amid financial crisis
"We were already in bad shape before this global crisis, and we are now affected more deeply than other countries in our region," explained the Rev.
