Support Peace in Palestine and Israel June 4-10
It's Time for Palestine: Week of Global Action, June 4 – 10, is an opportunity sponsored by the World Council of Churches for the international church community to pray, educate, advocate, and participate in public action--all with an eye towards bringing peace in Palestine and Israel. The action week's
message is "It's Time for Palestine," a message that calls for both sides to share a just peace and end 60 years of conflict. The Heads of Churches in Jerusalem invite churches around the world to pray with them together during this time of reflection on Sunday, June 8 (

multiple resources to help people of faith meditate on and be moved to action – tools to teach more about the complex issues involved, first-hand accounts of the situation, tools to advocate for peace. For additional info, contact Derek Duncan at

David Vargas to Share Mission Paper at Stone-Campbell Dialogue in St Louis
Representatives from the "three streams" of the Stone-Campbell Movement will be meeting in St. Louis, MO June 8-10, 2008 to have dialogue on global mission. Robert Welsh, the president of the Council on Christian Unity, will be leading the Disciples delegation and David Vargas, Co-Executive of Global Ministries, will be sharing a paper on the topic Monday afternoon from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) perspective. David will trace the development of "Critical Presence" as the strategic approach that Global Ministries has developed in all phases of its mission. The paper will be posted next week on the Global Ministries website.

Global Ministries to Welcome Three "College of Mission" Summer Interns in Indianapolis
Through an initiative of David Vargas, Co-Executive of Global Ministries, Global Ministries will have three seminarians serving as interns for two months this summer. The candidates for the positions were proposed by Disciples affiliated seminaries and screened by Julia Brown Karimu, Global Ministries Mission Personnel Executive. Tracy Siegman
tsiegman@dom.disciples.org, a Lexington Theological Seminary student, began serving in the Mission Interpretation and Constituency Relationship office with Bob Shebeck this week. Next week, Aaron Smith
asmith@dom.disciples.org, a student at the University of Chicago – Disciples Divinity House, and Luis Gierbolini
lgierbol@dom.disciples.org, a student at Christian Theological Seminary, will begin their internships in the Africa office with Sandra Gourdet and the Latin America and Caribbean office with Felix Ortiz respectively. We welcome them to the Global Ministries staff family for the summer!
