spacer CMEP and Beyond Park 51: A Statement

September 9, 2010

Churches for Middle East Peace unconditionally condemns plans by a group in Florida to burn copies of the Holy Koran on September 11 and to incite others to do so.

Such acts are intrinsically repugnant to us as Christians and are an affront to all those who seek to promote reconciliation and an end to the conflict between Israel and Palestinians on terms acceptable to both.

In this connection Churches for Middle East Peace fully supports the

statement issued on September 7 in Washington, DC by 35 Jewish, Christian, and Muslim leaders (attached) that denounces the bigotry being directed against America's Muslim community.
