Middle East Council of Churches Statement on the Painful Incidents in GazaJanuary 5, 2009
With great worries, the Middle East Council of Churches followed the latest situation in Gaza Strip after the continuous Israeli armed raid on our brothers and sisters the Palestinians of men, women and children.
The Council condemns all brutal acts which target the innocent civilians.
The Council urges the international community represented by the United Nations and its Security Council to take a decision to cease the fire and the bloodshed, as well as the return to the status of tranquility.
The council calls also on the international community to stretch out the hands to support the Palestinians and ensure the arrival of humanitarian assistance to them.
The Council urges the Palestinian people to stand united in front all efforts that wish to take over their territories.
