For several years Global Ministries has been supporting the development of a Doctor of Ministry Program at Myanmar Institute of Theology.  In the spring of 2007, Rev. James Vijayakumar, Area Executive for Southern Asia, attended the graduation of the first class to complete this program.  This program has been guided by Theological Faculty from the United Theological Seminary in the Philippines who have visited Yangon three times a year to guide and sustain the program. 

Myanmar Institute of Theology is preparing Church Leaders for ministry to people who are suffering under an extremely repressive Military Regime.  The challenges of such ministry are immense and its rewards few, but committed faculty and dedicated students are keeping this institution going under difficult circumstances.  Global Ministries is also providing faculty development support to three members of the MIT Faculty to help strengthen this institution.
