30th anniversary of the death of Achbishop Oscar Romero

Commemoration of the life and legacy of Oscar RomeroOn March 24, 1980 Roman Catholic Archbishop Oscar Arnulfo Romero was murdered in El Salvador while he was celebrating Mass. He represents an extraordinary number of martyrs of the Twenty Century, including pastors and lay leaders. Many people died during the civil wars and dictatorial goverments. As an example, in El Salvador, the Evangelical Lutheran Church, partner in mission with the UCC and Disciples of Christ through Global Ministries, lost Rev. David Fernández on November 21, 1984. He was tortured and executed for defending human rights, in the name of Christ.
In order to undestand the present situation of countries in Latin American and the Caribbean, the struggle and theologies from the region, we recommend to missionaries that serve to through Global Ministries in that region to watch the movie Romero, based on the life of Bishop Romero. Commemoración de la vida y el legado de Orcar Romero
El 24 de marzo del 1980 el Arzobispo Católico Romano Oscar Arnulfo Romero fue asesinado en El Salvadro mientras estaba celebrando la Misa. El representa un extraordinario número de màrtires del siglo XX, incluyendo pastores y líderes laicos. Mucha gente murió durante las guerras civiles y gobiernos dictatoriales. Como por ejemplo, en El Salvador, la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana, compañera en la misión con la Iglesia Unida de Cristo y los Discípulos de Cristo por medio de los Ministerios Globales, perdió al Rev. David Fernández. El fue torturado y ejecutado por la defensa, en nombre de Cristo, de los derechos humanos.
