Pray for Mexico on Sunday, July 16, 2017
Lectionary Selection: Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
Prayers for Mexico:
Creator God, if we are the sowers of seeds, you are surely the preparer of soil. Today we ask for awareness of your continued work and presence with us. We can sow seeds, but help us know when and where. We can sow seeds, but help us to remember the tending is also important. We ask that you work in the diplomatic processes between Mexico and the USA. We ask for those who would help tend to the daily needs* of Las Memorias. Through our life-giving connection with you may we all play our part in the whole sowing, growing, harvesting, sowing process. Amen
*Regularly occurring needs. A more complete list is available with approximate costs.

- Gas: for cars and for cooking,
- Much Gratitude for: Solar project expansion, Clean water for a year. Thank you!
Mission Stewardship Moment from Mexico:
Context (location) is everything. Especially when sowing seeds. I sow seeds labeled “Change is possible!” I know some fall on rocky ground and may quickly sprout, but, will never take root. I know some fall on the path and the seeds are eaten by birds. I know there is a possibility seeds might actually fall on good soil. I keep sowing.
About 130 men, women, and children live here at Albergue Las Memorias. We are a shelter for people living with HIV. I am different from them in many ways, I am HIV-, Spanish is not my first language, I am not an addict, I have never been a sex worker… BUT, they know I care about, talk with, teach, touch appropriately, eat, hang out, and pray. We do all this together.
As a Mission Co-Worker, it is not our mission to start churches or convert people, but rather we accompany our mission partners sowing seeds of possibility. El Programa de Cambio (a program I offer) provides moments of deep connection with a Higher Power, and I am grateful for the opportunity to walk this journey. Your support of Global Ministries, financially and prayerfully, provides opportunities for these life changing moments. A dozen of our residents are on a journey to cultivate new things in their lives: connecting to Higher Power; believing internally change is possible; developing positive skills and habits.
