Prayers for Kenya:
The disease of leprosy goes as far back before Christ. To live with leprosy meant you were a social outcast. It is a hopeless disease that one lived with and died from it. The 10 men with leprosy had learned to live with the abnormal. They learned to live with the disease and became accustomed to living on the fringes of society. Society can also become accustomed to living with abnormal conditions. We live with the disease of violence in the world and we have become so accustomed to it that the abnormal feels normal.
The All Africa Conference of Churches held along with other two ecumenical partners a workshop on Peace and Healing with the churches in Burundi. The participants were asked to recall the disease that is affecting the country as well as moments of healing that took place. The disease list was assassination, extra judiciary killings, hatred, injustice etc. The times they experience healing/liberation from their disease the list was so few.
The healing of societal diseases requires that we make them visible, that we use our voice and at times use our hands to heal. The disease of gun violence, chemical weapons, wars, hunger, etc. they all cry out “Jesus have mercy on us” And the people of God “see” and responds.

Mission Stewardship Moment from Kenya:
The Peace and Advocacy Department of the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) organized a two-day meeting on “Mapping and Strategy for Sustainable Peace and Security in Africa” on 7 and 8 April 2016 which gathered 72 participants from across the continent.
The meeting, held at the Desmond Tutu Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, was a strategic one to reflect on the burning situations in the continent and the threats to peace and security in the sub-regions and also strategize together on how to effectively make the African Union Agenda 2063 known to the AACC constituents.
The participants also followed presentations on the issue of Gender-Based Violence, the importance of families in issues of peace and security, engaging the African Union and the United Nations organizations on the issues, the inclusion of people with disabilities in all spheres of life and the situation in Western Sahara.
The Theology, Family Life and Gender Justice Department of the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) led by Rev. Dr. Lydia Mwaniki organized a three-day workshop on “Women and Entrepreneurship.” The workshop held from the 23rd to the 25th August 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya, was attended by 30 women leaders from 15 African countries.
The aim of the workshop was to empower the women leaders on practical skills in entrepreneurship, in order to enable them start a business venture or improve the one they already have. They would in turn be in a position to help other women under their leadership benefit from the acquired knowledge.
The topics developed focused on creative leadership, entrepreneurship as a tool of empowering women in Africa, starting up a new business, resource mobilization, financial management, and more.
