Pray for India on Sunday, June 7, 2015
Lectionary Selection: Mark 3:20-35
Prayers for India:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Lord, you are holy, righteous, and worthy of all praise. Thank you for each day in which we awaken to experience your goodness, grace, and mercy. Thank you for the outpouring of your love upon your people, your power which equips us, and for every unique opportunity that you have provided for us to be a blessing to others. For we know that “apart from you, we can do nothing.”
Thank you for showing us the beauty and strength in being on one accord. Despite differences in language, origin, and culture; we are brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. When there has been a need, a tragedy, a natural disaster; we respond by coming together as a people. Thank you for bringing us together as one body to serve you and attend to the needs of our neighbors; those near and far. I truly cherish the promise that if we remain in you, you will remain in us and we will bear much fruit; fruit that will last. So, help us to be faithful stewards of the gifts, resources, and talents in which you have entrusted unto us so that we can experience the abundant harvests that comes from walking according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Please pray for:
The Springer Community College students for direction, success in their studies, and guidance as they prepare to enter into their respective professions and future endeavors.
Mission Stewardship Moment from India:
Springer Community College, Mungeli serves as another avenue in which the lives adults, both young and old, are being touched and transformed. Operated by Christian Hospital Mungeli, its objective is to empower the disadvantaged and underprivileged through education, which serves as a foundation for employment and self sufficiency. This is accomplished by not only preparing students in their field of study; but, by developing the character of the individual through the incorporation of life skills courses and employment preparation into the curriculum.
Responsibility, Risk-taking, Punctuality, Confidence, Resume Writing, Interviewing, Time Management, Sincerity, Decision Making, and Helping One Another are all courses on skills that are necessary for personal and professional development throughout the various stages of a person’s life. “This is an opportunity to find a better way to make their lives beautiful, self dependent, and to be a blessing for their families,” states Mr. Prasanta Nanda, Vice Principle of Springer Community College, Mungeli. “The internship training program is an additional advantage for the students to secure a job in their respective corporate sectors or departments. Our students can also reach their dreams by going for higher studies through this program.”
To further enrich the development of these skills, courses are infused with unique, active learning techniques to impart both theoretical and practical application approaches into each subject. Each lecture is unique. Many life skill classes have been facilitated by international guest instructors, including members from my church, Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, and others who have served as short-term volunteers at the hospital.
Students are encouraged to engage in dialogue and actively participate in class. It has been truly a honor and a joy to share with the Combined Courses class at the Community College. To experience how they evolve from being very timid during the first few minutes of class to becoming more vocal, more confident in the exchange of ideas is exciting! I look forward to the completion of the first graduating class as they spread their wings and venture out to become confident, responsible individuals who significantly impact their communities, families, and society.
