Elizabeth George Endowment Fund

India

The Elizabeth George Endowment Fund was established as a Wider Church Ministries endowment fund at the request of donor Dr. Gail Baker. The Fund honors Elizabeth George, the first Indian Principal of Women’s Christian College in Chennai and Professor of Philosophy and Vice-Principal of Lady Doak College in Madurai, India, from 1954 until 1962.

Distributions from this Fund are used by the Southern Asia Office of Global Ministries for scholarship support of one or more undergraduate students at Lady Doak College majoring in English or Tamil.

The Elizabeth George Endowment Fund provides an opportunity for donors, especially constituents of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), but not exclusively, to make contributions to a permanent fund that provides Global Ministries resources with which to support scholarships at Lady Doak College in Madurai, India.

Additional contributions may be made to the principal of the Elizabeth George Endowment Fund by check written to Wider Church Ministries and sent to:

Wider Church Ministries
PO BOX 71957

Please include “Elizabeth George Fund” on the memo line of the check or in an accompanying note.
