WCC invites all to join World Week of Peace in Palestine and Israel
The World Council of Churches is inviting its global fellowship and all people of good will to participate in the World Week of Peace in Palestine and Israel on September 16-23.
This year’s theme is “Youth and Children: Raising Hope and Making Change”.
Held the third week of September each year, the World Week of Peace unites Christian witnesses in peaceful actions around the world to promote a just peace in Palestine and Israel.
During this week, which includes the International Day of Prayer for Peace on 21 September, church organizations, congregations, and people of faith are encouraged to bear a common witness by participating in worship services, educational events, and acts of support in favor of peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians.
As part of the theme, the WCC is encouraging young people to “Be the winds of change for peace.” Prayer resources will reflect on youth as perpetrators and victims of violent conflict, and youth as peace builders and agents of change. Part of the World Week of Peace will also focus on challenges facing youth and children in the context of the Palestine-Israel conflict.
