YWCA of Palestine: Easter Message 2017
Tradition says there were three women who witnessed the empty tomb, saw the angels and the holy light. These three Marys or Holy Myrrhbearers as they are often called were the first to witness the resurrection. They were instructed to tell the good news to a society of men who would discount their testimony because they were women.
So much has changed over the centuries and yet so much has stayed the same. Women’s experiences and testimony are still challenged. The YWCA of Palestine this Easter invites you to walk with us. We invite you to walk the Way of Suffering with us and the people we work with; we invite you to the foot of the cross with the women, with Mary, to learn how we are now to be a new family of care and compassion. We invite you to join our pilgrimage to the tomb to discover that the stone of oppression and death has been rolled away; we invite you to celebrate with us the holy fire of resurrection, life over death.
Easter is a time of celebration even when the darkness of violence and the tomb seem forever. The good news of ‘He is Risen’ is that life persists. We invite you to join us and our youth and women in insisting on this good news. We invite you to join us in our resistance to all that stands in the way of love so that justice and peace can grow and become a shared reality.
The YWCA of Palestine takes this opportunity to wish you a blessed and Joyous Easter.
