Shoes in San Nicolás de los Arroyos
On September 10, 2016, the Evangelical Congregational Church of Argentina (IECA) distributed 180 pairs of shoes to kids and teenagers in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Argentina. Children are not allowed to attend school without proper footwear, which can keep them from receiving their education as well as a daily meal. School shoes are also often expensive and, therefore, a significant need.
Children, youth, and family programs in San Salvador
The IECA in San Salvador, Argentina recently received funding from Global Ministries that provided tables, chairs, desks, audio equipment, and outdoor games for their weekly and monthly activities. This community hosts groups and events at the Emanuel campsite that care for the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of kids, teenagers, and parents. This is done through bible studies, holiday events, a parenting group, teaching values to kids through play, a clothing repurposing and recycling group, home visits, and skill workshops including sewing, cooking, and gardening.
In addition to these programs, the IECA hopes to someday run a medical clinic to serve as a resource to the community in San Salvador. Currently, hospitals are far enough away that many families are not able to travel and receive the care that they need. They also plan to refurbish the building in order to improve current activities and make space for future activities like the medical clinic.
