NCCK Statement on the Kidnapped Nigerian Girls

This is an expression of the pain the National Council of Churches in Korea feels at the kidnapping of Nigerian girls on April 14 as an act of religious terror.

This is an expression of the pain the National Council of Churches in Korea feels at the kidnapping of Nigerian girls on April 14 as an act of religious terror. The NCCK Gender Equality Committee and International Relations Committee hold this situation as most important, and ask for prayers and support from all faith communities that these young women may be returned safely to those who love them, and for prayers that violence and sexual discrimination may be done away with. We support the World Council of Churches and the United Nations in their work for security for life and equal eaducation for all young people.

This hits the NCCK particularly hard perhaps, because we are struggling with the loss of over 300 people, mostly teenage students, in the sinking of the ferry Sewol. We hear the cries of pain of those parents, and so our thoughts also dwell on other parents similarly affected.
