Death of Jane Davis Morgan, former missionary to the Democratic Republic of Congo

Global Ministries announces the passing of former missionary, Jane Davis Morgan, inIndianapolis,Indiana, on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the age of 91.
Jane was born inAthens,Alabama, and received a B.S. degree in 1942 from Birmingham Southern College. Upon graduation, she became a research technician at theUniversityofCincinnati, and in 1946, she served as a research associate inHavana,Cuba, continuing to work in this field for many years. In June 1952, Miss Davis was commissioned by the United Christian Missionary Society, a predecessor mission body of Global Ministries, to serve as a technician at the Institut Medical Evangelique (IME) inKimpese, Democratic Republic of Congo, and worked in this capacity until her resignation due to medical reasons in 1959.
Jane is survived by her husband, Hiram A. Morgan, of Danville, Kentucky, and five nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, 24 great-great nieces and nephews, and seven great-great-great nieces and nephews.
As Jane wanted, a graveside memorial service is planned in Birmingham, Alabama, on Monday, May 14, 2012. Reverend Edd Spencer of First Christian Church, Birmingham, will be conducting the service.
