Haigazian University in Lebanon Position Opening for Full-Time Campus Minister
Haigazian University was established in 1955 by the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (UAECNE) and the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) as a liberal arts institution which operates on the American model of higher education using English as the language of instruction. It offers the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees. All degrees are recognized by the Lebanese government. It comprises a diverse student body of 900 undergraduate and graduate students, and 150 teaching, administrative and custodial staff. It also operates the Center of Continuing Education for at least 400 persons a year.

Campus Ministry
In
keeping with its purpose and goals, along with co-curricular activities, the
University provides spiritual life activities within an ecumenical atmosphere
where the integration of faith and learning are explored. Furthermore, the
University provides an opportunity for the students to explore the Christian
faith, recognizing that faith is one component of a balanced life.
The Campus Minister
Reporting:
The Campus Minister is appointed by
the Board of Trustees of the University, reports to the President, and works in
close cooperation with the Office of Student Life.
Responsibility:
- Organization
of Spiritual Life activities such as but not limited to the weekly chapel
service, Bible study/discussion meetings, and normally two weekend retreats per
academic year for interested students, the annual Baccalaureate Service, and
occasional devotions at Faculty or Staff assemblies. - Maintenance
of a support office (through daily office hours) for the spiritual formation
and personal development of students and other members of the academic
community, including non-Christians. - Undergraduate
teaching, normally two courses a year. - Leadership
to the Student Financial Aid program. - Occasional
involvement in local ministries in which the University is a stakeholder. This
includes occasional visits to local congregations and schools, and preaching.
Qualifications:
- Young
Ordained minister of a Protestant/Evangelical church who holds a graduate level
theological degree. - Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
Needs to maintain smooth relations with the students, faculty, and
staff. He/she develops a working relationship with local pastors and leaders
and in particular with the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near
East. - Ability
to work independently and collaboratively. - Personal and theological competency
in inter-cultural, ecumenical, and youth-related issues. - Commitment to being a
Christ-centered resource person to the academic community and willingness to
share one’s personal testimony of faith with the university community. - Passion for the healthy and
balanced spiritual formation of the students. - Experience in Christian youth work
is a plus.
