The Theological Community of Honduras (CTEH) opened is doors in March 1998 as an important theological institution in Honduras with ecumenical principles, supported by the Christian Commission for Development (CCD), which has been a long-standing partner of Global Ministries since its inception decades ago.

The CTEH partners with the Latin American Bible University of San Jose, Costa Rica, which Global Ministries also has worked with for many years. CTEH offers an exciting approach to theological, biblical, and pastoral education that emphasizes the inter-relation between faith, politics, society, and the church. With the goal of empowering leaders in the Honduran church to confront the challenges in their ministries in the 21st century, CTEH is providing a unique contribution in the struggle of justice and health in marginalized neighborhoods and poor villages where Christ accompanies the poor of Honduras. Theological education is available at different levels from grassroots and secondary school levels as well as university level. 

Students of CTEH include students of Bible and Theology as well as Pastoral Education students. Over the years CTEH also added non-theological educational programs reflecting an expansion of its initial vision. CTEH now offers programs for basic education (middle and high school), a kindergarten/pre-school, and a technical program for youth at social-economic risk. In addition, CTEH provides HIV/AIDS educational programs and sponsors ecumenical, theological dialogues and forums about the challenges that confront the people of Honduras today, including issues of immigration, non-violence, youth at risk, and fair trade.

In 2010, CTEH had 26 Bible and Theology students and 60 students of Pastoral Education. Seven students were supported by funds received through Global Ministries. In addition, gifts through Global Ministries helped cover the cost of books, teaching and student materials, meals for students, and support for the CTEH librarian position.

The Theological Community of Honduras shares a story of a former student who first received his Bachelor of Science in Theology from CTEH in 2007 and then, with the support of the CTEH, was able to study at the Latin American Biblical University in Costa Rica. He now is teaching theology classes at the CTEH. He is grateful for the opportunities to study; he reports that his understandings of the Bible and of the church have been nurtured, and this has enriched his personal and professional life. He appreciates not only the financial support but also the encouragement to pursue these studies.
