Yushu Qinghai Earthquake Update
The 4th batch of Amity relief materials arrived in South Zhaqu Road, Gyegu Township, the epicenter of the quake. This is the first lot of rescue resources ever arrived in the area. On hearing the news, residents came from different places and gathered at the distribution points, among them, are a number of Tibetan women with children on their back.
The Amity Foundation shares a chapter of Ms. Tang Chuanfang’s diary. Chuanfang left for Yushu seven days ago on April 20 and is still in Yushu today with five other colleagues.

The 4th batch of Amity relief materials arrived in South Zhaqu Road, Gyegu Township, the epicenter of the quake. This is the first lot of rescue resources ever arrived in the area. On hearing the news, residents came from different places and gathered at the distribution points, among them, are a number of Tibetan women with children on their back.
Suddenly, I was attracted by a father and his daughter among the crowd: Sitting on a stone stool at the distribution point and holding the daughter tightly in his arms, was the father waiting. Meanwhile, the mother is helping with the unloading of the material. The father kept pulling his coat to give more warmth to the girl who crouched in his arms and was sleeping warmly.
When I approached them with light steps, the girl was awaken, “Daddy”, she murmured with scare and timidity，and cling to the father more tightly. Father touched her head, whispered something in Tibetan,
Five minutes later, distribution of relief goods started with drinking water. At this moment, the snow came to a stop, father and daughter moved to a place under some sunshine. Taking over a bottle of water from the mother, father opened quickly, pored some into the lid, fed the daughter before he himself took a small sip. Simile came to the daughter’s face, father smiled back with some content. They have not had any water as clean as this for days. This moving scene, powerful enough to make everyone’s heart grow fonder, has embedded in my mind.
Today, headed by Mr. He Wen，some rescue team members returned to Nanjing and received warm welcome by all the staffers of Amity. For the past 12 days, they have experienced so much hardship and difficulties in this battle against altitude sickness, freezing chillness, and will to bring the much needed help to the people. Amity is truly proud of having such sacrificing, loving and brave staff.
