Global Ministries has learned of the passing of Martha Marie Troxell Calcote, former missionary to Japan, on November 11, 2008.
Although this announcement is regrettably delayed, Global Ministries recognizes and greatly appreciates Martha’s ministry in Japan, along with her husband, Delbert, from 1953 to 1969. Martha and Delbert began their work at the Rifu Rural Evangelistic Center about 180 miles north of Tokyo, and later lived in Gose, engaged in evangelism and church leader development in the Nara Prefecture. Martha also taught classes in Christian home and family life, spoke to women’s clubs and student groups, and sang in special musical events. Delbert died April 15, 2003.
Survivors are her husband, Ralph Victor Calcote, one son, two stepsons, three daughters, and three stepdaughters and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County, Inc., or the Pension Fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Ministerial Relief Fund.
