Muriel J. “Sherm” Kaliher passed away in Portland, OR, on August 9, 2006, at age 86.

Muriel J. “Sherm” Kaliher passed away in Portland, OR, on August 9, 2006, at age 86.

Sherm was born in Wright County, MN and was a graduate of Macalester College and the University of Minnesota in Public Health Nursing. Over the years Sherm contributed a great deal to her community with such groups as Campfire Girls, the United Church of Christ, on the local as well as the state and national levels, the Cancer Society, AAUW and many other organizations.

Sherm was the nurse in her husband’s medical practice, they later traveled to Gaziantep, Turkey to serve a medical mission there for three years in the 1970’s, where Sherm started baby clinics and worked in the hospital.

Sherm is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Howard Kaliher, two daughters, Patty and her husband, Teri and her husband, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
