Former missionaries Dan and Sandy Owen will receive the Distinguished Ministers Award from Brite Divinity School.
Former missionaries Dan and Sandy Owen will receive the Distinguished Ministers Award from Brite Divinity School.
The award will be presented to the Owens at the Brite Divinity School luncheon during Texas Christian University’s annual Ministers Week in Forth Worth on February 7, 2006.
Among the many aspects of their careers in ministry, the Owens served as DOM and then Global Ministries missionaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo (former Zaire) 1964-71 (during which time they spent one summer working in Zambia), and later were missionaries in Swaziland 2000-2004.
They were Overseas Associates in Kenya 1993-1997. For more than 20 years they both, but especially Dan, have been active in the Disciples Amateur Radio Fellowship (DARF, now joined with its UCC counterpart, UCAN) establishing short wave radio network projects in Congo,Swaziland, Lesotho and Guatemala (this last effort just in the past few years).
