Letter from Global Ministries to the Disciples of Christ Community of the Congo

Dear Rev. Bonanga,
Once again, we want to assure you that our Disciples family in the Congo, as well as the rest of our brothers and sisters in that nation, are not alone at this time of uncertainty and suffering. Since we heard the first news about this past weekend’s events in Mbandaka, Bolenge, etc., we have been not only praying for each of you, but also exploring ways to respond to the crisis in an effective manner. Even though Rev. Sandra Gourdet has not officially begun yet her new responsibilities as Africa Area Executive, she is already aware of the situation and participating in our response efforts.
DOM/Global Ministries — as well as those church entities that support our ministry — are ready to begin responding as soon as possible to the needs of the Disciples Community of the Congo, but to do so it is important to receive from you an official communication indicating what are those specific needs and how you intend to utilize any resources that we may send. Even if you do not have yet a complete assessment of the situation, please let us know as soon as possible what are the immediate and urgent needs so far. Later, you may provide us with additional information and a follow-up plan of action.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Num. 6:25)
