Prayers Requested for Mozambique
Over the past few months, the political situation in Mozambique has deteriorated. One of our partners has reported that on October 19, forces of the ruling FRELIMO party tried to apprehend Afonso Dhlakama, the leader of the opposition, RENAMO. Dhlakama was able to avoid capture and on October 22, forces from RENAMO attacked a village called Maringue, forcing residents to flee.
After enduring decades of colonial rule and 18 years of civil war, the people of Mozambique continue to face political and social unrest. During this time of heightened tension and increased violence, let us keep our Mozambican partners, as well as all of its citizens, in our prayers.
