MECC calls for unity in prayer and meditation for Lebanon with Pope Francis
Hours before the meeting of prayer and meditation for Lebanon to be held tomorrow in the Vatican and for which His Holiness Pope Francis called the Heads of churches in Lebanon, the Middle East Council of Churches calls for unity in prayer with the fathers gathered on the intention of the Homeland of the Cedars, which is today as if it was under the cross, struggling to survive in the face of economic financial, security, political, social, health, educational crises…
With Pope Francis, let us pray tomorrow under the title He chose “God is a project of peace. Together for Lebanon,” and let us seek the inspirations of the Holy Spirit for all spiritual and secular officials to work with honesty and faith to save their country from its depression, so that it restores its role as “the mission” as Pope Paul II called it. Thus it remains the symbol of the Land of Holiness, the meeting place of religions and civilizations, instead of being a number ahead of the list of countries that have economically collapsed and are at the top of the lists of corruption and crime rate, as we have never seen it before.
The Middle East Council of Churches, on this historic day for Lebanon, for the East, as well as for its Christians, calls upon the international community and the world, once again, to fulfill its pledges, preserve human dignity in Lebanon, and guarantee its right to live free and sovereign. Moreover, the MECC calls the international community to support Lebanon to rise from the ashes of the catastrophic blast of the Port of Beirut.
Today, more than ever before, Lebanon needs a new hope, a heavenly sign that reaffirms what was mentioned in the Bible for generations and generations.” And Moses looked to the north, towards the mountains of Lebanon and said: And this mountain? God answered and said: Close your eyes. This mountain is Stand for me. Neither you nor the one who comes after you will set foot on it.” Deuteronomy: 3/25 32/52 34/4.
