Job Opening: Program Associate, Resource Development

The Office of Resource Development for Disciples Overseas Ministries (DOM) is seeking a dynamic team member to support revenue-generating activities and fund development efforts.
Global Ministries is a diverse team working together to support the mission of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ by joining with global and local partners to work for justice, reconciliation, and peace. The Resource Development team initiates, nurtures, and maintains relationships with current and potential donors to provide direct and planned gifts to Global Ministries, a shared ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the United Church of Christ (UCC).
The Program Associate is a valued team member who strategically manages donor campaigns and development activities to help the organization meet its revenue goals. We seek an innovative team member who will develop new non-conventional sources and modalities of giving to Global Ministries. The Associate will coordinate with other Global Ministries programs to develop multimedia materials, social media engagement, and communications tools.
What to Expect as a Program Associate:
- Carry the lead grant-writing responsibility in procuring new corporate, foundation, and private grants.
- Research, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities in consultation with Global Ministries Leadership.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on the performance of funded program activities.
- Generate and submit high-quality grant proposals.
- Communicate information on grant opportunities with all relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking; coordinate and follow up with appropriate staff on the progress of submitted proposals.
- Meet regularly with Co-executives, the Director of Strategic Engagement, and staff to discuss current and new funding needs.
- Assist with planning and executing fundraising campaigns, events, and public programs, ensuring all necessary follow-up and post-event reporting has been completed.
- Service a portfolio of current and prospective donors emphasizing fundraising relationships with Disciples and UCC congregations, middle judicatories, and racial/ethnic constituency ministries.
- Anticipate 60% of time focused on grant writing, 40% donor engagement.
What You Will Bring:
The qualified candidate will have at least three to five years of fund development experience and demonstrated proficiency in grant writing. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be self-directed, and demonstrate a solid ability to work well with various individuals and groups.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proficiency in research, interpretation, and analysis of various types of data.
- Knowledge of the grant application process, scoring criteria, and funding cycles.
- Proficiency with donor databases and websites is highly desirable.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, take initiative, and follow through.
- Be highly organized and have the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and database management skills.
- Overall travel expectation of 35-40% for a remote position, grantmaker and donor engagement, and staff development activities.
- Demonstrated success in working in fund and donor development theory preferred.
- A bilingual professional (English and Spanish) is a plus but not required.
- It is helpful to be familiar with the structure and work of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and/or the United Church of Christ and the work of Global Ministries.

Relocation to Indianapolis is not necessary. If not within a 75-mile radius of Indianapolis, travel to the Indianapolis office is required at least four times per year. If local, a weekly hybrid work schedule is in place that will allow for set scheduled days in the office for collaborative engagement with colleagues and days working remotely to foster work/life balance.
