All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) signs an MoU with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre

On 1st February 2024, the AACC General Secretary Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki, and the Kofi Annan International Peace Training Centre (KAIPTC), Commandant Major General Richard Addo Gyane signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. This took place at the KAIPTC offices in Accra, Ghana.

Recognized as one of the three (3) Training Centers of Excellence (TCE) for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in peacebuilding, KAIPTC is a training institution sharing Ghana’s five decades of internationally acclaimed experience and competence in peace operations with other states. With the signed MoU, the AACC will collaborate with KAIPTC in building and strengthening the capacity of civil society and faith-based organizations to promote democracy, good governance, and human rights on the African continent. This will be achieved through various joint programmatic areas pursuing the fourth Aspiration of the Agenda 2063 for the Africa we Want: A peaceful and secure Africa. 

“I am highly impressed by the expertise and professionalism of KAIPTC, their willingness to work with us, and their understanding of the role of the church in peace processes. They appreciate our dedication to excellence and recognize our reputation on the continent.” Said the AACC General Secretary, after the MoU signing ceremony.  “I am eagerly looking forward to seeing this collaboration further our peacebuilding and advocacy work in Africa.” He noted. 

Among those who witnessed the signing of the MoU include Dr. Gorden Simango, Director of Advocacy and AACC Liaison Office to the AU, and Rev. Angele Dogbe, Director of AACC Regional Office, Lome.
