Prayers for South Africa
Almighty God, we thank you for bringing us thus far. We realize that we don’t know where we would be if it had not been for you. You have protected us and provided for us by sending angels like Global Ministries and others our way, enabling us to serve your Kingdom. Thank you for the opportunity to pray for our country, the work we do, and the people that we serve. We bring our country, South Africa, before you, Lord. We are experiencing so many challenges and problems, and we acknowledge that we sometimes doubt and sometimes it is just so difficult to keep the faith. Breathe the Holy Spirit into our anxious lives, Lord, and give us peace. Strengthen our faith, Lord, and forgive us for doubting you. We realize, Lord, that you are still in control and that no locked door can stop you. Hear our prayer, Lord, and open doors and hearts so that we can continue to serve your kingdom here on earth. We pray for this in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Mission Moment from South Africa
Ons Plek opened its doors in 1988 at a time when many girls between the ages of 6 to 18 years were on the streets in Cape Town, South Africa, due to neglect and escaping abuse and families who could not support them. We treat each child with dignity and believe that no one should live on the streets or drop out of school. Here at Ons Plek, we provide shelter for them. We support, guide, encourage, enable, educate, and empower them for life after Ons Plek. Behavior modification and weaning off of street life take place here. We build the self-image of the child and try and restore relationships with their people at home.

Our preventative arm of the organization, Ukondla, provides homework support to prevent children from dropping out of school. We believe that education is the only tool that can take us out of poverty. We want our children to be successful in their school work and develop into successful individuals. We want our children to complete their schooling, be reunited with their families, or find alternative accommodation and take their rightful place in society. We are grateful for the support received from and partnership with Global Ministries. Their support helps us to render the required services. However, the need for support is just growing as our government has also decreased our subsidy, making the need for support even greater.
