B’Tselem: Israel resumes its campaign of killing and destruction in Gaza
Last night, the Israeli government violated the ceasefire, resumed the indiscriminate killing and displacement of civilians in the Gaza Strip, and chose to sacrifice the lives of Israeli hostages to advance the all-out war it has declared on the Palestinian people—backed by the US administration and for the sake of Netanyahu’s political survival.

According to initial reports, Israel killed more than 400 people and injured hundreds more in bombings in the Gaza Strip last night.
Given the international community’s complete failure to curb Israel’s aggression and hold it accountable for countless crimes committed over the past months in Gaza and the West Bank, Israel’s choice to continue violating the law and inflicting widespread, indiscriminate harm on civilians should come as no surprise. As long as Israel is allowed to trample international law and fundamental human rights with impunity, the destruction and killing it is inflicting on the Gaza Strip and on the West Bank will continue unabated.
