B’Tselem statement – The Israeli government: “Let them die”
An Israeli attack on Rafah, where more than 1 million people from all over Gaza strip are seeking refuge, means more death and destruction for Gazans and for the Israeli captives, and more sorrow and grief for the families and for us all.
As Israel has repeatedly proven it has no intention of avoiding harm to civilians, the catastrophic outcome of such an attack is all too predictable.
The Israeli government is stopping at nothing in implementing its policy of lethal devastation, underway for more than seven months now despite the cries of a public tired of wars and suffering.
The killing of civilians and the massive violation of human rights of Palestinians and Israelis living between the River and the Sea must be stopped. The international community must intervene immediately to stop the war and reach a deal to free the hostages.
