Cathy Nichols to Serve as Next Global Ministries Mission Personnel Executive
Beginning in January 2012
Dear Friends,
Jim Moos and I are writing to announce the selection of Cathy Nichols to serve as the Mission Personnel Executive for Global Ministries. Cathy served 8 years as a missionary of Global Ministries, seconded to the Sabeel Ecumenical Center in Jerusalem. In that capacity, she supervised international staff, directed International Friends of Sabeel, coordinated advocacy and outreach, as well as assisted the director. In addition, she served as Interim Program Coordinator for the Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) for the World Council of Churches. Cathy has a Ph.D. from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University and a B.A. degree from Swarthmore College. She spent a year as an exchange student at the Soka University, where she studied Japanese language and culture and she also studied Latin American History and Politics in Costa Rica. She is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Hebrew and has conversational Arabic. Cathy is a member of First Christian Church in Tucson. She is married to Dr. Asher Kaufam and they have 3 children, El’ad 8, Noa 4, and Matan 1. Cathy will begin her work with Global Ministries in January 2012
