Death of Rev. Louis Harris, former missionary to Congo
Reverend Louis Harris died early Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas. He was born December 6, 1918 in Marshall County, Oklahoma. Rev. Harris served as a Missionary in Congo from 1946 to 1957 where he served as pastoral evangelist and District Minister of the Bolenge area; and then from 1958 to 1965 he taught at the United Theological School for training ministers. During the Congo crisis of 1960, as President of the disciples of Christ in Gong, he was a member of the three man Emergency Administrative Committee and was one of seven Disciples missionaries who remained in Congo when others were evacuated.
