William Tolley, former missionary in Angola, died March 3, 2006 at Pilgrim Place in Claremont, California.
Bill and his wife, Nancy, were appointed to Angola after Bill received his doctorate degree from Hartford Seminary. During their term (1959-1961) they were involved with the Lobito Mission and served churches and schools on the west coast of Angola.
War in the region in 1960 forced Nancy and their children to return to the U.S. Bill followed in 1961.
Later, Bill and Nancy served in Ghana where Bill taught religious education, theology, and Bible at a seminary.
