“Enough is enough. No more words without deeds. It is time for action”
[The “Palestine Israel Ecumenical Forum” (PIEF) is a platform that rallies churches together enabling them to coordinate their efforts and initiatives for a just peace in Palestine-Israel. The aim is to bring an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine in accordance with UN resolutions, and demonstrate commitment for inter-religious action for peace and justice that serves all the peoples of the region. The PIEF believes that non-violence and rigorous dialogue between people, regardless of religious affiliation, are the pillars around which a just peace and reconciliation can originate in the region.]
PIEF introduces yet another communication tool: “acta non verba” is our first edition of an occasional newsletter. In choosing this title, we have been inspired by the “Amman Call” that has launched PIEF in June 2007 where it states, from the very beginning, that “Palestinian Christians from Gaza to Jerusalem and to Nazareth have called out to their brothers and sisters in Christ with this urgent plea: “Enough is enough. No more words without deeds. It is time for action”.”
Through this newsletter, we hope to update you with news and reports from PIEF, its network and constituents. Our hope is that our newsletters will do more than just inform our readers. Rather, that the actions taken by some members, especially those within Palestine-Israel, will inspire and stimulate similar actions from other parts of our network. To further our objective of being an information-sharing base, we would also ask our constituents and readership in general to send us news and views, which they would like to be circulated for wider use. The PIEF’s function of rallying churches together is best done when it can serve as an information bank from where ideas are disseminated.
