Global Ministries is saddened to learn of the death of Sunny Kuruvilla
Sunny Kuruvilla

Sunny Kuruvilla, 77, of Kerala State, India, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015, at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Ernakulam, Kerala State, India.
Sunny received undergraduate degrees in economics and accounting from Union Christian College and Calcutta University in India. He received a master’s degree in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. Post-graduation, Sunny worked in a variety of institutions and organizations, including the World Council of Churches in Geneva, the Woodstock School in India, and the National Council of Churches of Christ in New York.
In 1991, Sunny began service with the United Church Board for World Ministries (UCBWM), a predecessor body for what is now Global Ministries. He was commissioned to serve in Lesotho as an accountant. In this role, he became a financial consultant for the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) and walked alongside partners as they made important and sometimes difficult financial decisions. Over time, Sunny also moved into doing some fundraising for the CCL. In 1994, Sunny’s wife, Sheela, and daughter, Naida, joined him in Lesotho. After over ten years of service, Sunny and Sheela retired at the end of 2002.
In retirement, Sunny returned with Sheela to their native India and remained close to family.
Sunny is survived by his wife, Sheela, daughters Shyama, Tina, and Naida, and their families.
