Global Ministries’ Middle East and Europe Executive to participate in online interview
On Tuesday, November 2, Peter Makari, Global Ministries’ Middle East and Europe Executive and Vice Chair of the National Council of Churches’ Interfaith Relations Commission, will participate in a blog-cast with Mr. Naeem Baig, Executive Director of the Islamic Circle of North America. The discussion will focus on Christian-Muslim dialogue and relations. Both Makari and Baig are particpants in the National Muslim-Christian Initiative, a national dialogue table involving various U.S. churches and Muslim organizations.
From the program announcement: “Tensions across the Muslim-Christian divide are increasing in communities around the country. In addition to the Juan Williams/NPR/Fox controversy of recent weeks, inter-religious hostilities are still swirling in New York; Temecula, California; Gainesville, Florida and elsewhere. For this episode of CLExchange OnAir, we’re joined by two gentlemen who are part of the National Muslim-Christian Initiative, an interfaith coalition seeking to educate and encourage peaceful dialogue among Muslims and Christians. Dr. Peter Makari is executive for the Middle East and Europe, for Global Ministries of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Naeem Baig is vice president and executive director of the Islamic Circle of North America. We’ll discuss what their initiative is doing to inspire more understanding and less fear so that communities can break down the barriers that divide them.”
The webcast will air live at 3:00 pm Eastern time, and will be available online as a podcast after that. Click here to access the show.
