Global Mission Connectors Trained
15 Global Mission Connectors from both Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ were trained in the Northwest
15 Global Mission Connectors from both Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ were trained in the Northwest
They came from the north and the south, the east and the west, from Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and UCC churches. They came with a hunger to learn about the mission work of Global Ministries. This was the first-ever gathering of Regional and Conference “Connectors” with national leadership provided by Bob Shebeck of the Missionary Relationship Program.
The Connectors are the home-grown Ministries and Mission Interpreters of the Northwest. The 15 Connectors were blessed by the presence of Lillian Moir, Global Mission Personnel recently returned from Botswana. In their 22 hours together, the Connectors explored history, “where we are now” facts, the structure of Global Ministries, and a whole lot more. They learned how to access information from national offices and from the web. They went home with a notebook filled with resources. They were empowered and commissioned for mission interpretation work in their geographical areas.
Connectors will be connecting first with the pastors of their congregations and then reaching out to connect with all Disciples and United Church of Christ congregations in their district/area. This partnership program is under the sponsorship of the UCC Global Ministries Committee and the Disciple Justice and Ecumenical Concerns Ministry Team.
