Prayer Alert for Kenya August 2022
Although Election Day was last Tuesday, 9 August 2022, the outcome of the election was just announced due to disputes over the election results and allegations of election fraud. However, with 50.5% of the votes, Mr. William Ruto was declared the winner of Kenya’s presidential election. The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) requests prayers.
Dear siblings in the ecumenical family,
Ecumenical greetings from the All Africa Conference of Churches.
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) is requesting you to dedicate some time for prayers for Kenya as the country goes for general elections on 9th August 2022.
About 22.1 million Kenyans are registered to vote. Previous elections have been marred by violence. At this time in the life of the country, political tolerance and the peaceful coexistence of citizenry beyond the polls are crucial. Please pray to God to grant wisdom to all the candidates and their followers to rise above their own interests, and that the outcome of the election may not trigger election-related violence.
Since the AACC secretariat is based in Nairobi, the welfare of the country has a direct impact on the welfare of AACC as well.
