Loving People Wells

Global Ministries supports the Loving People Wells Program sponsored by Zhengxie Friendship Association in Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, China. The Zhengxie Friendship Association noticed residents in the Anhui Province were carrying water in plastic bags over great distances for clean water. It is estimated that over 200 million people have limited access to drinking water in China. The Association works with villages in the Anhui Province and technical staff to build wells as part of the Loving People Wells project. The Zhengxie Friendship Association reimburses villages for much of the cost of a well in their communities, and the remaining portion of the costs is provided by the village receiving the well.

The local communities have named their wells “Loving People,” and they number the wells in the order they have been built – 1, 2, 3, and so on.  This name “Loving People” is posted on the well, for example, Loving People Well Number 5. The Loving People Wells Program has seen tremendous success and multiplication since the project began in 2002. By the end of 2016, 118 wells have been inaugurated in villages in the Anhui Province. Here are a few examples of wells that have been inaugurated through the Loving People Wells project, and a demonstration of their benefit to communities: 

Well in Muslim Village, Cang District, Dingyuan County, Churzhou City, 35 Meters deep, 380 Villagers are benefited.

Well in Guanshi Village, Cang District, Dingyuan County, Churzhou City, 30 Meters deep, 280 Villagers are benefited.

Well Yangming Village, Cang District, Dingyuan County, Churzhou City, 35 Meters deep, 490 Villagers are benefited.

Word of the Loving People wells continues to spread, and now new villages are approaching Zhengxie Friendship Association about installing wells in their villages. Global Ministries continues to support the Loving People Wells project, with the remainder of the cost provided locally. The sponsorship of one well costs $1,000.
