Project Report for Ten Year Plan – 1997-2007

The Pentecostal Church of Chile attributes its growth to the beliefs its Sunday school participants had — that as the early church grew from its Pentecost experience, so could they.  In 1997 at Camp Idahue a committee met and designed what is now the children and adolescent ministry of the church.  Their primary task was to prepare study material for children, adolescents, and vacation Bible school.  Global Ministries missionary, Elena Huegel, was part of that original committee.

The work of the committee attracted many others to collaborate in the development of the children and adolescents ministry and the committee soon became the National Christian Education Committee.  However, given the scope of the work that the national committee encompassed, the IPC determined it would become Christian Education Ministry for Children and Adolescents, the name it holds today.  The Ministry identified its vision, mission, and developed its strategic plan to facilitate the holistic development of those within the IPC that were 18 years and younger.

To date, the accomplishments have been:

  • The production of seven Sunday school curriculums, three for children (Step by Step Through the Old Testament; Step by Step Through the New Testament; Step by Step Through Our Church) and four for adolescents that addressed New Testament scripture and life issues of interest that include addiction, sexuality, self-esteem, and family life;
  • Vacation Bible School material that includes eight tracts of study, each with textbook and audio cassettes with music for singing and dancing;
  • A daily devotional written by Rebeca Toledo entitled “Recollections of a Pastor’s Daughter;”
  • A five-day training program for parents that include a textbook;
  • 30 Christian education workshops that have trained over 1,200 Sunday school teachers.

Finances for these efforts were provided by the generosity of our brothers and sisters in the U.S. and Canada through Global Ministries and the sale of educational material.
