In the midst of this past year of genocidal acts against Palestinians in Gaza, and war in the West Bank and beyond, the United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have sought to find creative ways to be in solidarity with our Palestinian partners.
Keep Hope Alive for Palestinian partners this October 21-25, 2024 by joining in on advocacy opportunities, supporting partners responding to the recent escalation in violence, and accompanying partners into a future of peace with justice for all who live in the region.
The Disciples and UCC have appealed for support of our partners in the Middle East, as they respond to the needs of their communities during this current crisis. Please consider supporting their continued witness among the most vulnerable. You can read more about our responses (including advocacy opportunities) to the current crisis on our webpage.
Our week of solidarity and education will include the following opportunities to learn and engage:
Monday, October 21
Welcome and Introduction
Our goal this week is to raise enough to plant 500 trees! Will you help us reach that goal? You can donate to the Keep Hope Alive Olive Tree Planting Campaign of the Joint Advocacy Initiative of the East Jerusalem YMCA and the YWCA of Palestine. Gifts can be made online. While we accompany our Palestinian partners in grief and sorrow, we hold firm in our faith, persevering in our efforts, knowing that our God wants peace and justice for us all. Our UCC and Disciples leaders have shared prayers for a just world for all that exudes peace. We welcome you to read these prayers and then take a moment out of your day to pray about this and decide on an action for yourself as you enter the next week and continue to work for a just world for all.
