Prayers for Argentina

Oh God, from the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, we ask for the appearance of the hundreds of grandchildren who were stolen from their legitimate families during the Argentine dictatorship and who, more than forty years later, still do not know their true identity. We pray that each of these men and women, guided by the light of Christ, can answer the doubts that oppress their hearts and walk in freedom. We pray that each of them be encouraged to approach us because it is never too late for the truth, nor is it ever too late to break the silence. That is why we ask those who know something to help our grandchildren find the truth or provide the information they have so that we can find them. And we pray for the families who have been looking for them for so long that they have the strength to continue fighting and waiting for the moment of the long-awaited embrace with their loved ones. In Jesus name, Amen.
Mission Moment from Argentina

The Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo have been fighting for more than 40 years for the restitution of the hundreds of children taken by the Argentine dictatorship and for the right to identity of all the children of the world. We could not have traveled this path alone. We have always received the love and understanding of people and supportive organizations, among them the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ, whose support gives us strength and hope to continue demanding Memory, Truth, and Justice even in the midst of the difficulties and obstacles that the present imposes on us. When many closed the doors to us, when many distanced themselves from us, when they called us crazy, you, dear friends, opened your hearts to us and made our prayers your own. And this example of fraternity has been a balm of life and inspiration, a reminder that we are not alone and that ours is a collective struggle that transcends borders and religions.
